How can I get my long, thick hair to stay up? |

A: Pull
your hair into a high ponytail, then split it into six even sections. Take each
length and wind it around two fingers, then pin to your head near the ponytail
band. Repeat until you've made a complete circle. For a spikey look divide the
ponytail into six, then twist each section like a rope. Pin it to the head allowing
the end of each 'rope' to splay out like a fan. | |

Can I give my hair fullness without curls? |

A: Yes!
Just ask your stylist for a root perm. It will lift and give volume making it
easier to style - blow-dry the ends under for a sophisticated look. |

blow-dry hair away from face using a shine-mousse. Using smoothing irons hair
was lifted at roots in sections then combed through before spraying with shine

For a glam-punk look use
a smoothing iron to get root lift staright upwards in small sections. When hair
is cooled separate sections with a polishing wax pulling strands down to create
a random fringe. |

This sleek look was blow-dried
smooth using a round brush and a blow-dry lotion for hold. For a neat and shiny
finish a small amount of sculpting wax was warmed between palms and smoothed downwards
over hair. | |

Play
Funk it up
with wax or gel rubbed between palms. Insert fingers into style at roots and gently
pull hair upwards. To finish, tease individual strands upwards and outwards at
random, all-over beginning at the crown. |

If your hair's as flat
as a pancake when you wake, take a tip from top hairdresser Umberto Giannini.
- Natural movement is essential and
starts with a good cut. If your hair is fine, a 'club cut' - which slices the
hair straight across and gives a solid edge - maximises volume. If your hair is
thick, your hairdresser can make the most of its volume by 'texturising' - cutting
into the mid-lengths and ends of hair to break up the shape, for an uneven, dishevelled
effect.
- Build
height while you dry. Work some volumising mousse into the roots or apply a strong
hold blow-dry lotion or spray, when use your fingers to tease hair upwards as
you style - the heat from the dryer will encourage volume. If your hair is long,
tip your head upside-down while blow-drying to lift the underneath.
- Bad
hair day? Boost the roots by inserting heated rollers at the crown. Spritz with
a light styling spray then blast with a hairdryer. Leave the rollers in place
while you do your make-up, then unwind for bags of body!
- Invest
in a few tools. Starightening irons are great for shorter hair - clamp large sections
from roots to ends for a spikey look. For long hair, always dry with a diffuser.
Heated rollers are handy for all lengths - for volume rather than curl, leave
in for a few minutes only.

best results use on slightly damp hair.
- Always
use a heat-protecting product before styling.
- If
you want tighter curls divide the hair into many sections - larger sections for
larger curls.
- To
create root lift as well as curls look out for stylers that have a 'finger-like'
prong attachment. Simply slide the attachment close to the scalp and wrap hair
around. Don’t pull as you would with a brush attachment, simply hold in place
until you get the lift you want. Remove by sliding out.
- Always
let hair cool before dressing into desired style.
- Finish
with a fine mist to hold style.
