Daniel Galvin, the world's leading Hair Colourist is often referred to
as the "King of Colour". Since he established his own business in the
1970's, he has been responsible for every major innovation in hair colouring
techniques and their application.
His father and several of his relatives were hairdressers, so it seemed
inevitable that Daniel would carry on in the family tradition. Daniel,
however, was fascinated by the use of colour in hair and how it could
change the way people looked.
Daniel Galvin trained in the 1960's with several of London's new generation
of innovative hairdressers, whose combined talents were responsible for
bringing British hairdressing to world attention.Specialisation in colouring
was a completely new area in hairdressing, with most hairdressers preferring
to cut and style. Daniel learnt fast and word about his skill and "artists
eye" in applying colour, soon meant that he was sought after by many top
salons. Daniel decide to join Leonard, which then had a large tinting
department, where he developed and refined his colouring ideas. After
four years he became a director and later partner in the company. Always
at the forefront of innovation in hair colouring, it was during this period
that Daniel introduced new highlighting techniques, henna, vegetable dyes
and the fun "Crazy Colour", which revolutionised the way in which hair
was coloured.
In the late seventies Daniel set up his first specialist colour salon,
the first of its kind in Europe. Daniel's reputation and endorsement by
his clients, top models and the media led him to open an even larger salon
at the present location in George Street, in 1987. The importance of colour
is emphasised in the Salon where the entire ground floor is dedicated
to colouring, this in turn is complemented by an excellent Styling Department
with its own talented team on the lower ground floor.
